Patellar Instability
The kneecap is designed to fit in the center of this groove, and slide evenly within the groove during the knee movements. But due to biomechanical alterations , in some patients knee cap tends to slip outwards during the the knee movements.It is called patellar instability.
Symptoms
- Kneecap (patella) moves to the outside of the knee
- Anterior knee pain and tenderness
- Hypermobile patella (you can move the kneecap excessively )
- Apprehension +
Investigations
- Your symptoms plus a doctor's examination of the knee (Q-angle)
- Special knee x-rays
- MRI scan/CT scan

- Medial soft tissue reconstruction surgeries (MPFL Reconstruction) /Lateral soft tissue release Bony realignment surgeries.
