Shoulder Stabilisation Surgery with Knotless Technology is a technique used to repair repeated shoulder dislocations seen in young and those in productive age groups. This repair is done through an arthroscopy (key hole surgery). The technique permits speedy recovery and returning to their demanding work faster.

Rotator cuff (shoulder muscle) tear seen more commonly in 50-60 years age group, results in unbearable pain and inability to lift arm. The Double Row Repair technique with swivelock anchors, increases the area of contact of the torn rotator cuff (shoulder muscle) at the bone insertion site. Thereby increasing the repair strength of cuff tear.

The Reverse shoulder arthroplasty technique addresses the irreparable rotator cuff tear with advanced stage shoulder arthritis in very elderly people. This ailment manifests itself with severe pain and almost total functional loss of the shoulder joint. Reverse shoulder arthroplasty provides relief from this complex problem.

Post these advanced surgical techniques, the rehabilitation protocols designed can accelerate and ensure complete recovery.

On the occasion, SISA hosted 6th Annual SISA Workshop on shoulder surgery at Hotel Taj Deccan. The advanced surgeries were demonstrated live by renowned specialists, Dr. Hannes Jonker, South Africa; Dr. K. Raghuveer Reddy. K, SISA, Hyderabad and Dr. Sachin Tapasvi, Pune. Osteochondral Defects. Relook Chondrocyte Implantation Cartilage Repair

Dr. K. Raghuveer Reddy, Sai Institute of Sports Injury & Arthroscopy. The Relook after cartilage cell implantation in young arthritic knee is done for the sole purpose of evaluation. We have been performing these surgeries since 2009 and after two years we subjected these two patients to check the effectiveness. It looked like a normal cartilage with the patient scoring a 100 % and the MRI showing 95 %. It reaffirms that cartilage implantation is a therapeutic option. It instills confidence in patients and doctors. The surgery was performed in two stages; in the first stage a biopsy is taken of the patients own cartilage and the cells are then cultured in a laboratory for 6 weeks. In the second stage, a mini open surgery is performed wherein the cartilage is implanted. This surgery is suitable to patients till they are middle-aged. Those who are operated upon will return back to normal in a time span of 6 months. The surgery costs around two lakhs which includes both the stages of the operation. The expense is less compared to the costs in other country.
